Is Rocket Spanish Really Worth It?
I live in South Amercia and have teenage children who speak both Portuguese and English. However, most of the countries in Latin America have Spanish as their primary language. These days, no matter where you live, if you want to get ahead in nearly any career field or even just get full use from the intenet, you need to speak English.
At the same time, powerful forces are driving the economic development of Latin American countries and Spanish is nearly essential to do serious business in Central or South America. Beyond business, some of the most creative work in film, television and music is taking place in Spanish.
As vacation or retirement locations, Latin America offers incredible bargains and a lifestyle (on a reasonable budget) that most Americans think is forever beyond their reach. Spanish speaking cultures have a rich historical and artistic legacy that can truly only be fully understood in Spanish itself.
Now, none of that may relate to your interest and need for Spanish - in many locations in the US these days, Spanish can be a great career booster. Or maybe you simply have always wanted to learn another language (Spanish was actually the first foreign language I managed to learn how to speak reasonably well after trying to learn French and Russian and wasting a year on ancient Greek - don't even ask why). Maybe you want to give your children an edge like I did.
When my children needed to start learning Spanish, I looked for something that would give them an edge. Naturally, I looked on line. Just for the record, I should confess that I run an off-line school that teaches English and that I'm pretty well up on the kind and quality of courses that are available off-line here where I live, and they just aren't very impressive which is why I went on line. I did find a variety of potentially useful resources online, but was surprised at what I considered extremely high prices for some of these courses.
Since I do a lot of work online I've gotten to know a lot of people from all over the world and a woman I know in New Zealand told me about Rocket Languages and in particular about their Spanish course.
I looked at their site and it was impressive though the cost for having the product actually shipped to you still seemed pretty high. However, they also offer it at a really massive discount in an online downloadable format. That was much more reasonable. And snce my kids spend a lot of time on the computer, it seemed like a great alternative.
I could go on about all the details of the course they offer, but their site spells it out very well. What I want to say is that I've been really pleased with how well the program works and with the fact that my children's interest is being maintained. That was my primary objective - to find a program that worked and that didn't bore my kids to death. It can be pretty difficult sometimes to adequately motivate a teenager and Rocket Spanish comes through on that count. For someone more mature, someone with a pretty clear idea of why they want to learn Spanish, it should be a piece of cake with Rocket Spanish. And, if it isn't, or it just doesn't work for you, they have a full 60 day money back guarantee. You really can't lose on this deal.
